Hi, I am kinda new to the game and I want to learn how to make gil early in my ff14 career. And since 2.0 is coming out soon that is more of a reason to do so. Which is the most profitable craft:fisher or botanist?Or is fishing + alchemy the best choice? Please, give me your opinion.
I'm in eu server Excalibur.

Hi djenkov and welcome to the site and FFXIV
What is the best for gil making? I would say that you initially would be better of with BOT. The advantage to fishing as you yourself is getting at is that it is extremely good for supporting ALC as well as CLN but that benefit would be in the long run and you will have to invest a lot more time before seeing a steady profit.
BOT will help you equally well with the carpenter and support some of the needs if you choose culinary. My general opinion is that you will get more expensive/easy-to-sell items with BOT than FSH but I have never conducted any experiments on Gil/hour or something like that so this is just my general assumption.
You could also consider mining which may actually be better than both and good support for Blacksmithing, Goldsmithing and Armorer.
While fishing is mostly for consumed goods and mass production mining are more for lasting items like weapons and armor. Botany is lying somewhere between the two with both materials for consumed goods and for lasting items.

Thanks!Your reply was very fast and very helpful!I will make sure to stick around the forums. Edit:I checked most of the items I could sell with bot, mining, fishing and alchemy on my server, and the prices are pretty low.Non the less,I will start doing BOT since Walnut logs,Yew logs and Flax still range from 1500 to 2000gil. Some mega-potions are selling for about 4-5k,but I don't think its worth the effort/time/gil ratio. Edited by user Monday, July 30, 2012 6:05:52 AM(UTC)
