Go for it as soon as you have access. For the Fishing Tranquil Paths one you will be able to get the 3 required hooks at each location, even if you don't pull any in. For Only The Monke Onke, might as well give it a go! I think the game helps you out a bit too, youll probably miss a lot of the regular fish but I bet you can catch the Monke Onke's, though you might have a chance of failure. Doesn't matter with either, you just go back next reset, talk to the leve guy once, exit out and those leves you failed are reset! Then win or lose, go back and get the new leves.

I just completed both rank 20's at level 16(this is earliest you can get them i think, i checked at (14 and 15) for Tranquil and got 1786 guild marks from monke onko or whatever, (traded 2 leves in) it was 986 or something base. and 10k from tranquil paths quest. No problem finishing either, both finished before 15 minutes easily. same as rank 10's as far as ease. Now i'm going to horizon to fish that little spot for a while and see how i do. |

Just a quick thing to add that you may know by now... battle and gathering leves will show you when you'll be getting guild marks from them. Crafting ones won't. Someone in the LS (Leon I believe) told me that the 20+ crafting leves will sneak the points in on you at the end, and I've confirmed this. I got some alchemy points today but couldn't tell you where from, as they didn't appear in the leve description and I didn't check the reward text after I turned each in. Hopefully that not showing up is a bug that needs to be fixed and not some random bonus reward you get for having a high appraisal value. -_- Right now I'm picking up any craft leves rank 20 and up in hopes that I'll find some points in my currency tab afterward.
Also they appear to be completely random, the points in general. I'll get anywhere from 500 to 1500 offered before beefing them up by exchanging old leves for them. Some days I'll get 3 or 4 leves that reward points, some days none.
P.S. The botany 20 leves in Ul'dah are very easy to solo at rank 16, and are awesome skill point gains. :) |

Don't worry, if it has anything to do with the appraisal value, it isn't that important. There have been plenty of times where my appraisal was under 50 where I still got guild marks.
Also.. When did you get 1500 guild marks for a field craft leve!? I'm jealous. I've never got more than 1k offered before exchanges.

I'm not sure what rank you are, but rank 30 fieldcraft leves give around that, and rank 40s give around 2000, before exchanging. |

Regarding Dowse - wait until you can buy Dowse V i.e. do not buy Dowse III and IV as they are made obsolete once you get Dowse V.
Deft Grasp kicks in fairly often but because you cant see stats while fishing, god knows how much DEX it adds for those pulls it is active. It can last for a long time (5 pulls I think) or sometimes just 1 or 2.

So just to ask a stupid question has anyone confirmed what rank you need to be to get rank 20 leves? Also they are only available in Gridania right now correct? Do you need to do the rank 15 fisherman quest before you can get guild points from the rank 20 leves? |

You need to be rank 15 or higher to get the rank 20 fishing leves. Yes, currently only Gridania. I believe Guild Marks are random. It's possible to go a week or longer without any. It's also possible to go a week straigt with every leve giving marks.
I know of no rank 15 quest. I'm pretty sure rank 20 is the first one. I think you just need to have the rank 15 main storyline quest done to start the rank 20 fishing quest.

Actually I can get Dowse V right now at my lvl fishing since I have the marks but unfortunately you apparently have to be the right level to buy it. It said I do not meet the requirements to purchase that item. So V may make 3 and 4 obsolete but I need them now for certain areas. 2 made 1 obsolete as well but still needed them.
